Is there anything quite as powerful as a woman in her 20s? For me, my 20s has been a time of spreading wings, of self discovery, of earning my first “real” paychecks, of single girl freedom, of no kids, and with those freedoms I have learned of my love of traveling!
I still have a few years left in my twenties, and I want to make the most of that time (see next week’s blog post…), but here are some life-changing trips/experiences that will lead to memories to be treasured for a lifetime!

Visit a Place that Doesn’t Speak Your Language
Learning a new language is a really great way to show respect to the culture you’re visiting. You don’t need to be fluent, but a few phrases like “Water”, “Yes/No”, “Bathroom”, “Please/Thank you”, “Hello/Goodbye”, and “How much?” will get you far!

Take a Tropical Trip with your Friends
While everyone is still young and unattached, spend some QT with your friends/loved ones by taking a trip together!
When I was in college I did super fun road trip to Florida with a group, and we made some great memories waking up and watching the sun rise! More recently, I attended a good friend’s wedding in Mexico. Sandy beaches, salty air, and sparkling blue water with your closest friends? Yes please!

Do Something Scary
This one is very specific, and for a good reason. There are plenty of destinations where you can lounge on the beach with a cocktail. But what about one where you overcome a fear?
Personally, I am terrified of unsecured heights. Ladders are the worst! But rollercoasters and airplanes are okay? I wish I could tell you more. But in my travels I’ve faced that fear by hiking, snorkeling, rock climbing, and zip lining! When you try something new that scares you, it builds you as a person.

Learn to make a foreign cuisine
This is something on my “to-do” list. When I return to Colombia in September, I’d love to learn to make Colombian tamales! There’s something about living like the locals that really ties your heart to a destination. And when you get home, you can host a dinner party for your friends to show off your new skill!

Travel Solo!
It can be hard to find friends who are able to travel with you, but that shouldn’t stop you from exploring the world! Nothing can compare to solo travel. It is equally as daunting as it is rewarding, but so worth it. Plus! In traveling solo, you are allowed the opportunity to do what you want when you want. No waiting on someone to wake up or not being able to see everything you wanted to see.
The best part?
Traveling solo doesn’t really mean traveling alone. You’ll meet new people and build friendships, but they’ll be with people from across the globe!
I’d recommend starting by doing a weekend getaway, and work your way up to national and international travel. Experience new cultures, try new things, and enjoy getting familiar with the world.
