When Mary on the Map began, all I wanted was to write about what I love, share some fun photos, and spread the word that women are powerful on their own!
Life can be a tornado. Winds of stress and anxiety, mixed with messy schedules and overbooking and “did I really just gain another 5 pounds?” We accumulate PTO, but can’t seem to separate ourselves from our inboxes long enough to use it.
It’s in this mindset that we forget how fleeting time really is. We shouldn’t be living to work. We should be working to live.
This year I’ve lost four people who greatly influenced my life. What I’ve learned is just how unexpected life can be, to cherish my time with the people I care about, and to take every opportunity I can grab. I was reminded to live NOW for those who cannot. To explore uncharted territories, to expand my view of the world, to connect with the people I know and the people I have yet to meet.

Mary on the Map now stands for so much more than sharing travel photos and videos. It is meant to inspire you ladies to allow yourselves to live. To grasp at the amazing experiences your life is destined to have. Girl, it’s time to stop waiting to “have enough money”, forget finding someone to go with, and allow yourself the freedom to explore.
Mary on the Map now stands to be your best gal pal. This blog epitomizes the girl who you can sip a bottle of wine with and gab over a charcuterie board. She’s the friend you watch bad Hallmark movies with in your favorite pair of fuzzy pajamas. She’s your travel genie big sis giving you advice and stories from far-off places.
Mary on the Map now stands to invite you to test your courage and explore different corners of the world. Getting out of your comfort zone is the #1 way to grow into being the happiest, healthiest, most inspirational human you can be. It is transformative.
Mary on the Map now stands to be a reflection of what you are, and what you can be. I’m here to remind you that you are the boss babe of your own life. Everywhere you want to go, everything you want to see, everything you want to be is right there in front of you. You don’t need a significant other to “complete you” or make you whole. You are bold, bright and brave whether you’re single, in a relationship, or halfway between the two. And that’s a WHOLE lot of badassery.
So there it is. This is the new Mary on the Map.
Grab your suitcases. It’s about to be a wild adventure.
