There are plenty of amazing girls getaway destinations in the United States and around the world. With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, why wouldn’t you want to book that girl’s trip you’ve been group chatting about for months?
Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite holidays. I only recently got into a relationship again after like, 7 years, so the whole “being in love” mushy stuff wasn’t really my thing on the day of love for the majority of the last decade. More often than not, I spent the day telling my platonic loved ones how much I value their presence in my life, watched romantic comedies, drank wine, and ate heart-shaped pizza with my gal pals. This year will be different because I have a date (my kinda-but-not-really-new boyfriend), BUT I’m hosting a Palentine’s Day game night on Saturday.
This got me thinking: Where are all my single ladies at?! I often felt SO isolated as a single girl on Valentine’s Day because it felt like everything was for couples and those of us not attached at the hip were single-ed out!
So. I’ve compiled a list of my FAVORITE girls getaway destinations around the world. Step away from the men and step into one of these fabulous destinations!
Anywhere in Florida
Let’s be honest: Florida is swoon-worthy. You get a little bit of everything! Amusement parks, hiking, beaches, culture, glamorous shopping, high-end bars and more. My recommendation? Hit up Miami for good food and hot nightlife!
Take a Caribbean Cruise
Cruises rock. You wanna know why? Because you hop on a boat, you get settled, you turn off your phone (except for photos because, well, duh!) and then you get lost at sea with your best girlfriends. Someone else plans all the logistics for you, all you have to do is check the box that says “Yes, I’d like to have that adventure today.”
Not to mention ladies, formal night! I’m a total sucker for getting dolled up with my gal pals and lighting up the night. Pour us a margarita and we’re a damn good time!
The Black Hills
There is so much to do in the Black Hills! Outdoor friends? Go hiking! Wine aficionados? There are plenty of wineries! History buffs? Mount Rushmore! Whatever type of girl’s trip you’re trying to have, the Black Hills can be an inexpensive solution.
New York City
The B I G A P P L E. Bright lights, a whole lot of coffee shops, and brunches galore! This type of trip is great for a go-go-go type of weekend! New York City can host any type of girl’s weekend: Bachelorette party, coffee shop tour, music hunting, sightseeing. You want it? New York’s got it.
Mexico
Mexico is a beautiful escape with friends. If you go, I suggest going the resort route so you don’t have to think too much about the financial aspect of food and drinks, and can focus on excursions and fun! Pro Tip: Go in December – February to get a better chance at spotting some beautiful humpback whales.
